For people who have still not registered we will have registration at the Chalet on Saturday, Jan 21st from 1 pm to 3 pm, and on Sunday from noon to 1 PM.
Other than that you can contact Bernice Smith at 709-454-3278.

Hi Jackrabbits, parents, coaches and leaders,
We had our Jackrabbits coaches/leaders meeting last night and I am happy to say that we have enough people to offer our program again this year. That is not to say that we could not use some additional help. There are always people away for other commitments so having some extras to fill in is very beneficial.
I want to pass on that Jessica Janzen will be our Jackrabbit coordinator this year. Jessica is relatively new to the cross country ski community having started here at Aurora last year. I want to thank her for offering her time. She will be assisted by Natalie Hughes and Michelle Tucker.
Jessica has set up an e-mail account for you to contact her if you have questions. She will also pass info on from this e-mail address: aurorajackrabbits@gmail.com
We will schedule our first session for this coming Sunday, January 8th at 2:15. After that we will alternate Saturday to Sunday each week. On Saturdays we will start at 12 Noon, and at 2:15 on Sundays.
Here is basically how the group coaches/leaders are set up. If you expressed a willingness to help and your name is not here it is because it slipped my mind. Please show up on Sunday and we will certainly find a group to put you in.
Bunnies: Tina Coombs, Tanya Gibbons, Stephanie Browne and Bonnie Hynes
Level 1: Lorne Coombs, Jamie Greene, Jessica Janzen and DR. O’Keefe
Level 2: Kelly Rumbolt, Kelly Penney and Tiara Hillier
Level 3 and 4: George Smith, Nathan Russell and Alex Rumbolt
Track Attack: Ken Rose, George Pink, Barbara Blake, Danette Rose and Caitlyn Pink
There may be some adjustments here as the groups get set up and other leaders become available.
On Sunday the majority of children will start in the groups they finished in last year.
This Sunday we will have an Information session at 2:30pm. We strongly urge one parent for each child to attend. It will in the Chalet. Natalie Hughes will offer advice on equipment, clothing and proper dress, and the program. I am sure there will be questions from you as well. This event will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Please attend.
I want to urge parents to ensure their children are on time for jackrabbit sessions. The times listed above are the times that we will strive to be exiting the arena. If someone is late they will have to catch up on their own. We cannot ask other children and coaches to wait around in the cold.
If your child was given his/her program/level book last year please return it to the Chalet on Sunday.
The final word is to remember that our canteen provides a valuable service to the members. It is also our biggest fundraiser. Without it we would all be paying considerably more to ski. Our rates are amongst the best in the province and it is because of our volunteer initiatives. Consider volunteering a day at the canteen. Get two or three friends together to do a slot. If we all throw in a bit of time it won’t be a big burden for a few.
Here are our rates and registration times again.
1) Friday Night from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
2) Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
3) Sunday morning from 10:00 pm to noon.
Parents are strongly encouraged to have their children registered for Jackrabbits as early as possible so that we can get them into groups.
Due to insurance and liability issues children not registered by noon
on Sunday will not be able to take part in the first session.
Happy Trails
George Smith

Dogs on Trails
1) We have made a decision with regard to people bringing their dogs to the trails. We have had a high number of concerns brought to us with respect to dogs on the trail. There are many more dogs being brought to the club then in the past. Members have cited concerns with dogs in their way while skiing, a mess left on trail and people with fears of dogs. Added to this is the possible liability for the club, and in particular the executive, should a dog cause or inflict an injury on a person.
We have decided that other than from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturdays, dogs will not be permitted on club trails or property. We realize that this move will disappoint some people, but we are acting in the best interest of all. If you bring your dog at the designated time, please clean up after it.
2) Registration is going very well and we are on pace with last year. If you want to register or know someone that is, ask them to touch base with Bernice at home at 454-3278.
3) Our trials are in very good shape considering the amount of snow we have. The ten is groomed and the track for classic skiing is being set. Really though it is no surprise given that we have a great groomer operator and he deserves a lot of credit! Great job Dean!!!!!
4) We will be offering adult lessons starting at 8:00pm on Monday, Jan. 25 for three weeks. Please let George Smith, Perry Bennett or Natalie Hughes know if you plan on attending. There is no fee for members; Non-Members fee will be $5.00.
5) We will be having several waxing clinics starting on Tuesday, Jan 26th starting at 7:30. This will be a demonstration only. People can bring there own wax/equipment and then do their own skis with some guidance after the lesson. In addition to this the door to our waxing room will be open throughout the week days for those who want to use the room to do their skis. All we ask is that you clean up after yourself and make sure things are unplugged when you leave
6) Lights will come on at 6:30. Please note that they will go out at 9:00 sharp so give yourself time to be back at the Chalet before 9:00pm
